A new study published in the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases, using the EpiModel platform, investigates the potential impact of improvements to HIV partner services among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the Atlanta metropolitan area. We simulated dynamic partnership networks of MSM, then implemented scenarios in which HIV partner services (also known as contact tracing) was improved across intervention steps of contacting partners, HIV screening them, and then linking them to needed HIV prevention or treatment services depending on their diagnosed status. This study critically depended on the EpiModel framework of representing data-driven dynamic partnership networks to accurately simulate current and recent partners of newly diagnosed index cases.
